good news bad newsAs the BPIF - the British Print Industries Federation publishes a really positive infographic in the state of the British print industry, so the BBC published a news piece about the closure of RR Donnelly, a directory printer in Yorkshire, with the loss of 200 jobs in the print industry.

content clutter print

For the last few years, the marketing world has been abuzz with talk of content, content, content. Whether you call the trend inbound marketing or content marketing, the idea is the same. Provide interesting content online and prospects will be drawn to your website like moths around a candle. Content marketing is a natural strategy for the new information economy, but it’s not as simple as the marketing sages make it out to be.

As with many trends, benefits accrued to the early adopters. It was easy to get noticed online when there wasn’t much there. Things have changed. Even marketing trends follow a product life cycle, and trying to get into the game after the bell curve has peaked is challenging.

greecing the wheelsHave you been looking at printing in Europe?

Did you request a quote?

offset or digital printingIf you are one of those people who believe that digital printing is some kind of glorified colour photocopying process, then you're going to have to change your chip and think again.

Gone are the days of poor quality digital printing. Today's machines produce excellent quality printing results which are indistinguishable from the traditional offset printing equivalent.

There are still some differences, however, that you should bear in mind when deciding between digital and offset print solutions for your printing requirements.

printing paper sizesAmong other things which somehow change as one crosses the Atlantic, so the standard business paper size is different in Europe. Where the standard US letter format is 216mm x 280mm or 8.50 inches x 11.00 inches the standard European A4 size for a business letter is 210mm x 297mm or 8.26 inches x 11.69 inches.

And in this particular case, size is important!

So why the difference?

printing in parisIf you are going to use printed materials in France it would seem logical to print them in France. Or maybe not France, maybe Belgium. Or Italy.

But definitely in Europe.

It certainly makes no sense to print your materials in California if you need them in Cologne.
